Collections

The collection was born from the need to highlight the stable relationship of Orthodoxy with particularly important moments in Greece, as in this case with the Revolution of 1821, but also in the earlier periods of Byzantium and the later years of 1940.
The logic of religious questioning can exist in the context of reading, questioning the Divine, criticizing the actions of the Church concerning some special moments of history or conservatism towards new ideas.
But in a realistic reading, Orthodoxy played the role of a connective tissue between unrelated groups of people, who had as a national characteristic a common perception of religion at every social level. In this way, the purpose was one, the liberation of the expression of the religious
feeling in a society free from the Ottomans and the rules of management of a conqueror.
After all, the identity of the Greek race, in the very difficult medieval years, was preserved by Orthodoxy, the Greek language that remained alive despite the interventions of conquerors and the innate belief in liberation and deliverance from darkness.

The leaders of the revolution were sworn in on the Cross, the Virgin was invoked in the difficulties and the fear of the wrath of God helped in their correct judgment in situations where they strayed from the path of moral order imposed by Christian doctrine and in the preservation of an innate culture coming from the ancient marbles.
Based on the above, the idea was born to use the method of depicting Saints of the Orthodox Faith, in the portraits of real Heroes who characterized the evolution of the Greek Revolution.
Some of them have been criticized for acts and omissions.
But the story is born through the magnification of the good and the marginalization of the bad, for people who with their actions, power and their weaknesses, provided the example and the bright sign of sacrifice for something beyond the human condition. It is a fact that to be able to a Nation to support its continuity in a world laden with threats needs its Heroes, its Saints so that the next ones can use the power of example through comparison and the intention to repeat acts of responsibility and self-sacrifice.
