Description

Every afternoon she went out of the city to the well called Jacob’s well and filled her pitcher. There, one day, she met Jesus Christ, who revealed her whole life to her. The Lord said to the Saint that He is “the living water”, that is, the inexhaustible source of the Holy Spirit.

This “spiritual water” was given by the Lord to the Samaritan woman, who was baptized a Christian among the first women of Samaria and was named Light.

Since then she has dedicated herself to spreading the Gospel in Africa and Rome. There she received a martyr’s death from the emperor Nero (54-68), when he learned that Saint Fhotine turned his daughter Domnina and some of her slaves to Christians.

Together with Saint Fhotine, her sons and her five sisters martyrized.
