Description

In order to save him from the child massacre, he was sent to the Monastery of the Annunciation of the Virgin on Mount Ammon at the age of just 14. He remained there until the age of 18 as a probationary monk.

Later he has ordained a monk and in a few years a priest.

From 1416, when Athens was occupied by the Ottomans, the Holy Monastery suffered two catastrophes.

At first, the saint happened to be praying in a cave on the mountain. The Ottoman army slaughtered the other priests and monks and then the Saint buried them when he returned.

On the second, on September 14, 1425, the Ottomans returned, found him and tortured him with great ferocity for eight and a half months.

He martyred on May 5, 1426, Tuesday at 9 in the morning at the age of 42. The tree where he was nailed and left his last breath still exists today.

While he was alive he was distinguished for his godly zeal and his arduous struggle as a priest.
