Description

According to the New Testament, he was the first to be called by Christ to become an Apostle, which is why in the Orthodox tradition he is often called the “First-Called One”.

The New Testament does not give much information about his person, while according to the Orthodox tradition, he is considered the founder of the Byzantine Church (later Constantinople) and the Patriarchs of Constantinople as his successors.
